It’s not quite all change at Relish but we’ve been really busy in the bar area as some of you who have visited in the past week will have seen.
We have halved the length of the bar to give more space near the fire and have been able to incorporate more tables in this popular area.
The new bar itself has a fresh coat of cream paint, a new varnished bar top and a new carpet near the kitchen entrance.
Some of the tables have been moved around a little but the cosy warm atmosphere has not been changed in this work.
We did much of the work ourselves with some professional help from Tony and Alan who many of you may have met before drinking at the bar.
We even had two of our most loyal patrons turn up and help until very late on the Wednesday evening as we were up against the clock and they were worried if we didn’t open by Thursday they would get hungry!!! Thanks Judy and Ian
When removing some false plywood walls behind the bar we discovered a hidden door and a beautiful original beam and whilst moving a radiator we had a bit of a shock as some of the old concealed plumbing was on its last legs and could have failed at any moment and left the restaurant flooded and as for one of the waste pipes it was so bad we are considering framing it….don’t worry it was only carrying wash basin waste.
We’re delighted to say the alterations have gone down very well with our regular customers the only other consideration in the pipe line at the moment……well we can laugh about them now!!!! is we may put a small porthole window in the bar wall as it looks directly into the kitchen to the spot where Jeremy cooks, but Jeremy is still thinking about this!!
From April Jeremy hopes to be using Cromer Crabs..subject to weather, wild garlic and spring lamb from Ash Lane Farm, Pulham
Next time you’re in the area come and see the new bar for yourself.
With best wishes from Jeremy, Rachael and the rest of team Relish
